Welcome to Aghowle  Holiday Cottages in County Wicklow.     We, Liz and Michael, are your hosts and we hope  all our guests will enjoy their stay and depart refreshed, with good memories of Ireland, and Wicklow, and Aghowle.

Our farm in Aghowle (pronounced “aag-howl”)   sits on  Barnacashel Hill,  part of the famous Wicklow Way walk.

There are 2 cottages, the  Loft and Mews, which  form two sides of the farmyard.  The Mews is traditional and cosy and ideal for a couple, and the Loft is contemporary and bright and suitable for couples, families or friends.

P1030794Within a two-minute drive there’s a country pub, a recording studio, a listed ruin, and a riding-school!
Across the hill is The Dying Cow, a tiny pub (or shebeen) in the middle of nowhere where local musicians gather to play Irish music every second Thursday evening.

The cities of Dublin and Kilkenny are within an hour’s drive, and also the coastal town of Wexford, known for its international Opera Festival, and for its wildlife and migratory birds on the Wexford Slobs. Glendalough, one of Ireland’s most famous national parks, is also less than an hour’s drive away. Local leisure pursuits include golfing, bicycling, fishing and horse-riding,

The Loft is the larger of the two cottages, and can accommodate a family or group of 4/5 people. The Mews is smaller and more intimate, and ideal for couples, or families with a child. Both cottages have bookshelves full of books, and we keep DVDs and boardgames in the Cowbyre for everyone’s use. The Cowbyre is a general purpose outbuilding beside the Loft, with a washing-machine and storage areas.

Holiday lets are usually by the week in summer with weekend and mid-week breaks for the rest of the year.

Longer lets are available in the Mews for guests who desire tranquillity and privacy to pursue studies or creative works.
